Manatee Season Begins!

In November, the weather started to cool down in Florida, and that meant the return of manatees to warm-water sources throughout the state.

In late February, Mandy exhibited what researchers refer to as a “peanut head,” meaning she had lost weight and her skull was protruding, and the decision was made to intervene and rescue her and her calf.

Mandy and Manilow Return Home

On July 14th, a manatee named Mandy and her dependent male calf, Manilow, were released back into the wild at Blue Spring State Park.

Manatee Sightings Update: Moms and Calves

There were several manatee mother and calf pairs visiting Blue Spring State Park this summer that were captured on the webcam.
