As we shift toward cooler temperatures, I am thrilled to think about being at events with all of you. Looking back, we had quite the variety last season—from our first ever charity “mana-tree,” to freezing at the Florida Manatee Festival, then covered in dust at the Orlando City Sea Cows soccer match, the warm and sticky Earth Day Festival, and, lastly, our first ever Outdoor Expo held inside the World Equestrian Center in Ocala. We brought Hope, our inflatable manatee, to over 20 events! After all that exposure and glamour, our Hope was a very dirty gal and really needed a bath!

As I enter my second season as our Volunteer Specialist, I am more comfortable selecting and coordinating our efforts. There are many opportunities for us to spread our message of manatee support! As events can fall on the same weekend, I am hopeful that a few of you, our members, are willing to volunteer to lead an event. I’d love for our volunteer mana-team to represent us at multiple events!
You can submit a volunteer application anytime on our website at savethemanatee.org/volunteer. I am always just an email away as well for any questions, suggestions, or comments: volunteer@savethemanatee.org.
