Join the Virtual Race and 5K Your Way!

Virtual 5K Collage 2025

By Cora Berchem, Director of Multimedia and Manatee Research Associate, and Natalie Thompson, Multimedia Assistant

A 5K that you don’t have to run? You heard right. Join participants from around the world in this year’s virtual Save the Manatee 5K! The choice is yours—you can complete the event by completing an activity of your choice, or if you are inclined to run, of course you can do that too.

Any physical activity counts toward completing your virtual 5K! Walk through your neighborhood, bike a local nature trail, kayak or paddleboard in a nearby waterway, or get away for a weekend with a hike. You can also participate indoors: use a treadmill, ride a stationary bike, participate in a dance workout, or swim laps at a gym. If physical activity isn’t your thing, you can still get in the spirit of the 5K by walking in smaller increments or spreading awareness about manatees to five people every time you wear your shirt. Feel free to think outside the box and tag us on social media to share how you participated!

Each participant receives a race packet containing a commemorative race shirt, finisher medal, and bib. Packets are $40 for domestic participants and $55 for international, and both prices include shipping. For a budget option, you can sign up for $20 and opt out of the race packet. Register now at savethemanatee5k.com!

Interested in sponsoring our sold-out in-person event? We have sponsorship options that range from monetary sponsors to in-kind options to raffle prizes. If interested, you can find our sponsorship packet at savethemanatee5k.com, or you can contact us at 5k@savethemanatee.org.
