Manatee and sanctuary buoy The disastrous oil spill caused by the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig has already impacted the Louisiana coastline and is currently drifting toward other Gulf Coast states. "It seems that Blue Spring may have its first set of twins!" wrote Ranger Wayne Hartley. It was the evening of August 19, 1991, and Park Biologist Joe Kenner had observed a mother manatee and her two -- count 'em, two -- offspring. Go >>

Swimming manatee In May, Sam Champion, Good Morning America's weather anchor, learned about the mission to save nature's sea cows with Philippe Cousteau, grandson of the legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau.
