Residents living along the Eastern Seaboard and Gulf of Mexico are reminded to watch for manatees and immediately report sightings to their local wildlife officials or marine law enforcement office. Kayak with Manatees
Kayak Tour PhotoBeginning in October, Save the Manatee Club is promoting kayak tours to see manatees. The ecotours provide an alternative way to view manatees without disrupting their natural behavior. Participation in the ecotours will help protect manatees as well. Ten percent of each tour booked by an SMC member will go toward the Club's manatee conservation efforts. Read more >>

Troy the manatee Many manatees have preferred habitats they return to each year, but it is not uncommon for a manatee to skip a season or two to visit another warm water source in the winter. Retirees Turned Manatee Advocates
Mike and Stacy Dunn Mike and Stacy Dunn didn't set out to be manatee advocates. A few years ago, they retired and came to live in Crystal River, Florida. Then the couple started seeing various problems in the area, such as boats speeding on the bay, fishermen in manatee sanctuaries at night, and manatee harassment. Read more >>
